A truly wonderful way to spend a Saturday! We start the morning with a stop at Eataly, the two-story, 60,000 square foot emporium featuring various food counters that vend all things related to Italian cuisine. From there, it’s off to the Getty!  High atop a hill on 110 acres amongst the Santa Monica Mountains and overlooking Los Angeles is the Getty Center – still as incredible as it was the day it opened over 20 years ago.

PARAMOUNT STUDIOS TOUR BY GOLF CART (with I Love Lucy stop at Desilu Studios/Lucy Park on the lot).  Lunch at Farmers Market/Grove- 2/12/25-$155

This trip we’ll walk in the footsteps of Lucille Ball and other legends at Paramount Studios, while we explore over a century of Hollywood history and witness more in the making at this famed studio. During our visit, a knowledgeable guide will lead us on an intimate, behind-the-scenes tour of the longest operating and only remaining major studio in Hollywood – where some of the most celebrated motion pictures and TV shows have been made. From the comfort of a shaded tour cart with plenty of time to also get out and stretch your legs, we’ll explore sound stages, the back lot, iconic Hollywood landmarks and more on this two-hour tour.  After, we’ll head to the Farmers Market and The Grove for lunch (on your own) and shopping.

BROADWAY’S “AIN’T TOO PROUD” The Life & Times of the Temptations- Broadway Close to Home at Fox Theatre in Riverside! -3/5/25- $180

“Your Choice” SANTA ANITA RACETRACK or L.A. ARBORETUM-3/15/25, $120

On this trip, we travel to Arcadia, CA!  Home of Santa Anita Racetrack and the Los Angeles Arboretum.  You choose admittance to one or the other!  Since 1934, Santa Anita Park has been the home of some of horse racing’s biggest events such as the Santa Anita Derby and the Breeder’s Cup.  The Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanic Garden is a 120 acre arboretum, botanical garden, and historical site nestled into hills near the San Gabriel Mountains. Prior to the tours, lunch on your own at the Santa Anita Mall Food Court.

“Your Choice” L.A. ZOO or GENE AUTRY WESTERN MUSEUM w/Griffith Observatory-3/25/25, $120

On this trip, we travel to Los Angeles’ Griffith Park!  Home of the Los Angeles Zoo and the Gene Autry Western Heritage Museum.  You choose admittance to one or the other!  Since 1966, the L.A. Zoo is home to more than 2,100 mammals, birds, amphibians, and reptiles representing more than 270 different species.  The neighboring Autry Museum features world-class galleries filled with Native American art and artifacts, film memorabilia, historic firearms, paintings, and more. A bonus stop will be at the Griffith Park Observatory.  The observatory is also a great place to enjoy panoramic views of LA including the Hollywood Sign.  Lunch on your own at the Observatory Café.

CARLSBAD FLOWER FIELDS with MUSEUM of MAKING MUSIC- 4/3/25, $130

Two of Carlsbad’s biggest attractions in one day!  First, the Flower Fields!  For over sixty years, Mother Nature has transformed the rolling hills of North San Diego County into one of the most spectacular and coordinated displays of natural color and beauty anywhere in the world. The nearly fifty acres of flowers that make up The Flower Fields are in bloom for approximately six to eight weeks each year – from early March through early May – literally bringing the famous fields back to life. Next stop, the Museum of Making Music. Discover & play musical instruments at a unique museum that tells the story of how instruments were made, used and sold. NETHERCUTT MUSEUM & NORTON SIMON MUSEUM PASADENA-4/12/25 ,$130

The Nethercutt Museum opened in 1971 when women's cosmetics magnate J.B. Nethercutt and his wife Dorothy decided to make their extraordinary private collection available for public viewing. The Nethercutt Museum is filled with one of the world’s most incredible collections of cars, antique furniture, mechanical musical instruments, and there's even a vintage locomotive complete with a private car on the grounds.  The collection also includes dolls, coins and 18th and 19th Century French furniture. The tour concludes in the music room.   It is here you will find unique pieces that the Nethercutt’s acquired, from nickelodeons to orchestrions, a Louis XV style dining room, and, of course, the centerpiece – a 5000 pipe Wurlitzer Organ.  Next, at the beginning of every New Year’s Rose Parade on TV, you will see the Norton Simon Museum in the background.   Home to an extraordinary private art collection that spans centuries and cultures. PAGEANT of the MASTERS/Laguna Beach-8/13/25, $160

Let us know if you're interested in seeing Broadway shows and we'll contact you for first right of refusal before we open the tour to the public.  By adding your name via our email (sales@travelsilverlining.com) or by phone (951) 929-6230, any time we plan to offer a new show, we'll reach out to those on this list for the first right of refusal, before the tour is published on our website and opened for bookings from the general public.

Tickets to sporting events and Broadway plays have become increasingly expensive. If there is enough interest, tickets will be purchased, and the game/show will be added to our calendar. Due to cost, we will no longer pre-purchase tickets with the hope that they will be sold. If there is enough interest, we will proceed with the ticket purchase.

THANKSGIVING 2024- In year’s past, we have done a Thanksgiving Day trip that includes dinner and a tour spot. Would you possibly be interested in doing this in 2024? If so, please email jerry@travelsilverlining.com with suggestions.

CANCELLATION POLICY

Silver Lining Travel reserves the right to cancel an event due to low enrollment or other circumstances which would make the event non-viable. If Silver Lining Travel cancels an event, registrants will be offered a full refund. Should circumstances arise that result in the postponement of an event, Silver Lining Travel has the right to either issue a full refund or transfer funds to the same event at the new future date. Persons wishing to cancel their reservation 45 calendar days, prior to an event will receive a refund, subject to a $10 Cancellation fee. Any cancellations made after the 45 days, WILL NOT receive a refund.
All times, pick-up locations, and itineraries are subject to change.
